Summer in Oslo is short but generous. When the sun is out, the whole city moves outside — to the islands, the parks and the waterfront. The best part? A lot of it is completely free.
Hop between the islands
Start with the islands in the inner Oslofjord. The ferry is part of public transport, so with a normal ticket you can hop between Hovedøya, Gressholmen and Langøyene — each with its own beaches and ruins to explore.
When the sun is out, an Oslo summer is one of the best-kept secrets in Europe.
Parks for everyone
Back on the mainland, the parks fill up with picnics and impromptu football games. Frognerparken and St. Hanshaugen are the classics, but locals love the quieter slopes of Sofienbergparken in Grünerløkka.
Keep an eye on the OFC Events line-up too: every week we curate free concerts, community sports and outdoor screenings happening across the city.
