A weekend guide to Grünerløkka
Coffee, vintage shops and riverside bars — how to spend 48 hours in Oslo's most loved neighbourhood.

Grünerløkka wears its history lightly. Once a working-class district along the Akerselva river, it's now the city's creative heart — without losing the rough edges that make it interesting.
Morning: coffee first
Mornings are for coffee. The cafés around Olaf Ryes plass take their beans seriously, and a slow breakfast here is the right way to start.
Afternoon: shops & records
Afternoons belong to the shops. Vintage clothing, second-hand records and independent design studios line the streets between Markveien and Thorvald Meyers gate.
Grünerløkka is the kind of place you plan to pass through and end up staying all day.
By night, the riverside bars and the stage at Parkteatret take over. Check the OFC Events calendar before you go — there's usually something on.
